Dolly Rebecca Parton
Dolly Rebecca Parton was created on the
19th of January 1946 in Pittman Center (Tennessee). She was born to Avie Lee
Parton and Robert Lee Parton in Sevierville. Parton is a domestic worker and
Parton is a farmer of tobacco. At the age of 12, she was already appearing on
Knoxville TV. At 13 she was already recording for a small label as well as
performing on the Grand Ole Opry. She relocated to Nashville in 1964 to begin
her country music career following her graduation from high school. Carl Dean,
a asphalt-paving business owner, was her first lover. They were married on May
30, 1966. Porter Wagoner saw her singing and arranged for her to perform on The
Porter Wagoner Show (1961). She was on the show for seven years. Their duets
were a hit and she was a part of his band on the Grand Ole Opry; she also sold
and toured records. Her hit "Joshua" was a chart-topper. #1 in 1970
was her biggest single. She made the decision to go it alone and remained with
the group, even though she recorded duets with the singer. In 1974, she left
him to be a solo artist. Dolly was a well-known singer/songwriter. Dolly was
awarded many Country Music Association awards (1968-70 1971-1972 and 1975-1976
1976). The petite (5'0") beauty was an easy fit for television. By the
mid-1970s, she was appearing regularly on talk shows, and before having her own
Dolly (1976). Dolly was awarded her first Grammy award in 1977 for Best Female
Country Vocal Performance. Dolly's first film appearance was in the movie
9-to-5 (1980), where she earned an Oscar nomination for her song title and
Grammy awards 2 and 3. She also received Grammy awards 2 and 3 Best Country
Song and Best Female Country Vocal Performance, for the track "Nine to
Five." Her fame grew due to her appearances in The Best Little Whorehouse
in Texas (1982), as along with Rhinestone (1984), with the hit song
"Tennessee Homesick Blues". Dolly Parton Enterprises, worth $100
million, is her biggest. Dollywood was established in Pigeon Forge in Tennessee
in 1986 to celebrate her Smoky-Mountain heritage. In the 1987 television show
Dolly, she starred as herself. In the episode "Trio" she was awarded
the Best Country Performance Duo or Group with Vocals Grammy in 1988.
